Mark Joseph Review by Julian Dibbell, Editor Amazon.Com Cyberculture Here's one device that's guaranteed not to be Y2K compliant: the minute the clock ticks midnight on the last day of this year, all technothrillers based on the millennium-bug threat will cease to function, drained of all suspense by the reality of actual events. The only fix: get your thrills now, while there's still time. And if you haven't already, consider starting with the briskly paced and convincingly rendered "Deadline Y2K," which pits a merry, multicultural band of white-hat hackers against a technological disaster that makes Chernobyl look like a flat tire. It's no surprise who wins, but the ride to the finish is definitely worth an e-ticket. |
