- There were 12 days of Christmas (of course), from December 24, to January 6.
- The Three Magi (the wise men)
- Sir Henry Cole sent the first cards, in 1843
- St. Francis of Assisi is believed to have created the first Nativity.
- It is a Roman custom; misteltoe was a symbol of peace.
- Joseph Mohr wrote the words to "Stille Nacht" (Silent Night); Franz Gruber, was later given credit for composing the music. A little extra trivia: The little parish church was called "The St. Nicholas' Church of Oberndorf.
- Nast was an artist for "Harper's Weekly", who drew the first picture of Santa Claus, based on Clement Moores description in " 'Twas the Night Before Christmas
- He was the Bishop of Myra
- The "Finnish" dwelling place of Father Christmas.
- Italy has the tradition of Old Belfana... a female gift-giver.
