  1. The first Easter baskets were built to resemble bird's nests.
  2. "Pace" is the anglo-version of the word "PESACH", one of the Hebrew words for Passover.

  4. The word comes from the name of the ancient goddess of spring, EOSTRE.
  5. Faberge Eggs, made of gold and jewels are the most expensive of the decorated "eggs".
  6. The Easter Bunny, was originally the Easter Hare. German folklore told how he left the eggs in the spring. When immigrants came to the U.S., the hare was replaced by the rabbit, or "bunny".
  7. Giving gifts of dyed eggs has been traced back to Ancient Egypt, and Babylonia.
  8. Literally, pysanki means "written eggs". It is a technique of using special wax pens, and multiple dyeings, to make very elaborately decorated eggs.
  9. After dyeing the egg (usually with bark or other natural dye) they would use a sharp knife, or a needle, to etch beautiful lace patterns onto the surface.
  10. They are the stone heads found on the "EASTER ISLANDS".
